Fatanas
A wedding in a household is indicative of singing, dancing, teasing and merry making. Singing together helps everyone relax as also makes the
guests feel comfortable. 'Fatanas' are traditionally sung in all Gujarati weddings during the many rituals performed before the wedding. All of
the relatives are 'mocked' and teased. Not only does everybody welcome this with an open mind; such teasing is also considered auspicious. Nowadays,
'fatanas' are also sung during the wedding ceremony especially by the bride's family. The groom's family is requested to look after the bride,
pamper her, fulfill her needs and not load her with a lot of household work. |
